Lil Cobras Summer Fun Academy 2013

Lil’ Cobras Academy: For the Soccer Stars of Tomorrow!

Who:  Open to all young aspiring soccer players (ages 4-8) looking to have a bunch of fun and learn about proper soccer techniques.

What: This is a 6-week Lil’ Cobras Fun Academy and is designed and overseen by WNY Flash Assistant Coach and Scott Vallow (ex-Rhinos GK). Previous coaches for the program have been current Pro Players on the WNY Flash and Rochester Rhinos!

This program is sponsored by the Cobras FC.

When/Where:
Girls sessions are Mondays June 3, 10, 17, July 1, 8, and 15th from 6:00-7:00pm.
Boys sessions are Tuesdays June 4, 11, 18, July 2, 9 and 16th from 6:00-7:00pm.

All sessions are OUTSIDE in Rochester, NY TBA (location will be announced once the field permits are approved).

Cost:  Only $50 per participant (only $8.33 per session!) and fee includes a FREE Lil’ Cobras Academy T-shirt.

4/29/13:  The Cobras FC Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Sahlen’s Packing Company will be the Title Sponsor of the club’s 23^rd Annual Summer Classic Soccer Tournament and Festival in Rochester, NY July 12-14. The event main headquarters and soccer fields are located in Rochester, NY at Total Sports Experience. Over 200 Boys and Girls teams from Canada, Pennsylvania, and New York will compete at age levels from U8 to U19 in games Friday evening, and all day Saturday and Sunday.

About Sahlen’s:  Sahlen’s is a 4^th generation family run business that started in 1869 that is the leading producer of premium quality meat products. Joe Chiapperi, Cobras FC President, declared, “The Cobras FC continue to host the greatest number of teams from Canada for any tournament in Western New York.  This provides an international experience not available in other tournaments as well as a shot in the arm to the local economy”.  It is estimated that over 15,000 people will attend.  Using an economic impact calculator from the US Soccer Federation, the Club estimates that over $1,000,000 will be added to the local economy from hotel, restaurant, and shopping revenue.  The tournament is also unique in that it hosts a Family Fun Night on Saturday night at Total Sports Experience.  The event includes a barbeque dinner, a DJ playing music, and ends with a fireworks display.  “The Family Fun Night is a significant draw for our tournament.  The teams visiting from out of town have a place meet and mingle when the soccer games end for the evening.  It creates an environment of true sportsmanship”, said Gary Pollock, Co-Tournament Director.
Joe Sahlen, current president of Sahlen’s Packing Company, is also the owner of the WNY Flash of the WPS.  The Flash play their top flight Women’s Professional Soccer games at the Rochester, NY  soccer specific Sahlen’s Stadium.
